Here are some easy ideas for reducing the amount of fat in your diet.

For biscuits--Use olive oil instead of lard or butter and skim milk or 1 percent buttermilk instead of regular milk.
For macaroni and cheese--Use low-fat cheese and 1 percent or skim milk.
For greens--Use skin-free smoked turkey, liquid smoke, fat-free bacon bits, or low-fat bacon instead of fatty meats.
For gravies or sauces--Skim the fat off pan drippings.

For cream or white sauces, use skim milk and soft tub or liquid margarine.
For dressings or stuffing--Add broth or skimmed fat drippings instead of lard or butter. Use herbs and spices for added flavor.

For sweet potato pie--Mash sweet potato with orange juice concentrate, nutmeg, vanilla, cinnamon, and only one egg. Leave out the butter.
For cakes, cookies, quick breads, and pancakes--Use egg whites or egg substitute instead of whole eggs. Two egg whites can be substituted in many recipes for one whole egg. Use applesauce instead of some of the fat.
Bake, steam, roast, broil, stew, or boil instead of frying. This helps remove fat.

More easy and quick tips:

For crispy fish: roll in cornmeal and bake.
For crispy chicken: remove the skin; dip in skim milk mixed with herbs and spices; roll in bread crumbs, cornflakes, or potato flakes; and bake.
Always remove skin from poultry before eating.

Use a small amount of olive oil instead of lard, butter, shortening, or other fats that are solid at room temperature.

Always trim any visible fat before cooking meat. Cutting calories is easy!

Chill meat and poultry broth until fat rises to the top and becomes more solid. Skim off fat before using the broth.  Use the skimmed broth to cook greens instead of fatback, hog jowls, or salt pork.

Does your diet include enough fruits and vegetables? Try bringing a little baggie with baby carrots or a few grapes to munch on when the urge to snack hits you. Add some strawberries to your morning cup of yogurt. Or enjoy some whole wheat toast and a couple of egg whites.  While the egg yolk has some valuable nutrients it also leads to higher cholesterol. Try to eat less than 4 whole eggs per week. Just remove the yolk if you want more.

Pack some apple slices and low-fat cheese for a healthy afternoon snack. Dieting doesn't mean giving up on good tasting foods.  Dieting is Easier When You Love the Food. Delicious meals shipped to your door. It's a proven strategy that works!

Celery is a healthy choice anytime. Try to make time for a couple cups of green tea each day - it's packed with healthy antioxidants.  Try a handfull of walnuts to boost your intake of healthy omega-3 fat.  Or wild, freshwater salmon.

Enjoy more fruits, berries, and vegetables of various colors in your daily diet. Blueberries with your favorite yogurt will give you a great mid-day boost and serve up some healthy antioxidants.

Spinach - a real superfood -  is also a very good source for fiber,  protein, and vitamin E. It is also a decent source of omega-3 fatty acids and selenium. Try these delicious spinach patties with your next meal! Tomatoes, red beans and strawberries are good for your brain and your waistline!
