Add Salmon to Your Healthy Eating Choices

Salmon is an excellent source of the good fat - omega-3 fat. Salmon is also a great low calorie source of protein. Most fish contain this type of essential fatty acid -  omega-3 fats. Wild-caught cold water salmon, are higher in omega-3 fatty acids than warm water fish.  Eating wild caught salmon helps reduce your risk of inflammation and helps maintain your immune and circulatory systems. Salmon is not only an excellent source of protein, it also packs a powerful punch of B vitamins.

Omega-3 fats are found in cold water fish and some nuts, like walnuts and flaxseeds. Omega-3 fats help prevent blood clots inside our arteries. These clots are the cause of most heart attacks and strokes.  These heart healthy omega-3 fats improve the ratio of good cholesterol to bad. Cholesterol can wreak havoc on your circulation. Cold water salmon also offers up a good supply of selenium and other healthy minerals. ( Avoid farm-raised fish - as they usually contain potentially dangerous PCBs and other unhealthy chemicals. )

Salmon is a true superfood. The health benefits of adding some wild-caught, cold water salmon to your diet are awesome. Scientific studies around the world suggest salmon can help lower your risk of heart disease and stroke. The omega-3 fats in salmon are also said to improve your brain's health!
